iPod Nano to be given away to youths at each concert!

Some young visitors to each concert in our Diamond Jubilee Season (2007-2008) will find a happy surprise - a free raffle for an iPod Nano will be held after each of the four regular concerts and the special Pops Concert.

The Rio Hondo Symphony Association is providing this gift to a lucky young person in school (grades 3-12). Entry slips, one per person, will be available at the membership table. After filling out the request slips for information about the concerts, entries will be placed in the treasure box for the drawing to be held immediately after the concert. Entries must be submitted before the concert starts.

This promotion was originally designed to highlight our Music Enrichment Program, in which students in grades 3-5 in many local school districts receive instrumental music demonstrations by music educators from the Rio Hondo Symphony. At those demonstrations, students were offered information about the concerts and an entry form for an iPod if they attended the concert.

This program began during the 74th Season. The first drawing was held after the November 2006 concert, and Shannon from Ocean View Elementary was the lucky winner. A larger crowd joined the fun at the March 2007 concert, at which Gabriel of Anaheim won an iPod. Caitlin of Whittier was the lucky winner for April 2007. Jacqueline won the iPod at the October 2007 concert, and Elena was the winner out of 60 children who entered the raffle for the iPod at the November 2007 concert.

Many students attend the symphony with their parents, and the Board wishes to increase the fun for everyone. All students in grades 3-12 are eligible for the free drawing. Parents of the winner must agree to allow publicity for the Rio Hondo Symphony materials. Good luck everyone! Be sure to be on time for the next concert!
