Perhaps the best things in life are free. Certainly our concert admission is free. However, did you know it cost almost $31,000 to produce just a single concert?
Your membership in the Rio Hondo Symphony Association makes a difference - really! Since memberships make up a third of the Association's income, there would be no orchestra without contributions from people like you.
How fortunate that the entire community has access to truly great music for the price of a membership! The musicians work for small honorariums and thousands of volunteer hours help support the concerts and the children's programs.
Wisely, the orchestra's founders provided concerts for free. Over time they engaged the entire community with a passion for classical music. When you become a member, you are paying tribute to the founders and musicians of long ago. Your contribution symbolizes two things: your belief that music is a miraculous work of the human spirit and secondly, your desire to keep music in your life and in your community. .

Because of the current struggling economy, the Rio Hondo Symphony Association has experienced drastic reductions in funding from the orchestra's three sponsoring cities and from corporate and foundation grants.
Now, suddenly, your support, always important, is essential.
Only with your membership can we continue to bring you these four dynamic, professionally performed and directed free concerts of the world's favorite classical music. Only with your membership can we continue to offer music enrichment programs for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade children, free concerts for 4,000 young people and sponsor the Young Artists Competition which presents an incredible opportunity to aspiring young musicians.

The Symphony Needs You Now
This season, because of a significant budget deficit, the Symphony Association has had to reach deep into its pocket of reserves to bring you a 78th season of free concerts. Now we need you to dig deeper - 15 percent deeper to support your orchestra. The fact is, only with your extra help can the Symphony Association present a uniquely beautiful 78th season of four ADMISSION-FREE concerts.
To save money, we have discontinued many of the special membership benefits, except for the highly valued post-concert receptions. If you contribute $150 or more, you will receive an invitation for two to attend the buffet events. In addition to socializing with other ardent classical music lovers, you will have the opportunity to meet the conductor, soloists musicians and board members who help to make possible the delightful performances.
Each concert costs almost $31,000. Although expenses are being drastically reduced, the quality of Conductor Furumoto's uniquely programmed concerts will not be compromised this season. If you have never been a member, please join now! The names of all members will be listed in the concert programs.

For a tax-deductible contribution of $150 or more you will be invited to the post-concert receptions. Names of all contributors are listed in the concert programs.
