Lars Clutterham - November 6, 2009
Lars Clutterham - Music has been central to the life of Lars Clutterham since he was given the gift of piano lessons for his 8th birthday. As a 12-yr.-old winner of state music competitions, he soloed a number of times with the Florida Symphony Orchestra. While still a child and teenager he also learned to play trumpet, clarinet, guitar, and oboe, and began to compose and conduct. He earned a music degree from Cornell College, Iowa, studied piano at the Ecole Normale de Musique, Paris, France, and completed a master's degree in piano performance at Temple University, Philadelphia. After teaching high school music for several years in the Philadelphia area, he emigrated to southern California, where he has pursued a varied career. He has directed church choirs and worked as a free lance commercial pianist. For a time he was in charge of choral music preparation at the Lawrence Welk Dinner Theatre in Escondido.
For more than a decade Mr Clutterham owned his own company, composing and producing musical commercials for radio and television. Since that time he has worked primarily in music preparation for motion pictures, with ancillary conducting and arranging roles in films. In addition he has been involved in music preparation for recordings, Broadway musicals, and concert pieces for such orchestras as Boston Pops, Hollywood Bowl, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
